Terms of Service

Last updated June 2026.

Starter terms — review with counsel before relying on them. This is a plain-language starting point and is not legal advice.

The service

QuietChart is macOS software that records a session (with consent), transcribes it, and drafts a clinical note (DAP, SOAP, BIRP, GIRP, and similar) entirely on your Mac. You review, edit, and finalize every note.

A drafting tool — not a clinician, and not a medical device

QuietChart produces an AI-generated draft to save you time. It does not practice medicine, provide clinical judgment, or make decisions about care. You are the clinician of record and are responsible for reviewing, correcting, and signing off on every note before it enters your records. QuietChart is documentation software, not a medical device.

Accuracy & your review

Automated transcription and drafting can be wrong — they can mishear, omit, or rephrase. QuietChart highlights lower-confidence passages and never auto-files a note, but the final note is only as accurate as your review. Do not rely on a QuietChart draft without verifying it against the session.

Privacy & HIPAA

Your session audio, transcripts, notes, and client data are processed and stored on your device and are never transmitted to QuietChart (see our Privacy Policy). QuietChart does not make you HIPAA-compliant by itself — HIPAA compliance is a property of your practices. Because we never receive your PHI, no Business Associate Agreement is required for that data.

Consent & lawful use

You are responsible for obtaining all legally required consent to record and to use AI-assisted documentation — including all-party-consent and any AI-specific consent rules in your jurisdiction — and for using QuietChart only with clients you are authorized to treat and document.

Subscriptions & deposits

In-app subscriptions are billed by Apple through the App Store and managed in your Apple ID settings; you can cancel anytime, and cancellation stops future charges at the end of the current period. The optional website early-access deposit is processed by Stripe and is fully refundable. Founding-member pricing, where offered, is described at sign-up.

As-is, no warranty

QuietChart is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, QuietChart is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the software or its generated drafts.
